Academic Teaching
Command of psychology material, beyond rote memorization, demands critical discourse and personal connection. Pursuant to such, my choices as a professor are guided by evidence-based techniques that encourage students to embrace the uncomfortable spaces of not knowing and self-seeking so that they can create their own deeper connection to the material.
My upper-level curriculum is discovery-based with self- and teacher-led exploration. Culminating in a portfolio-based assessment my classes at every level include concurrent and corrective coaching. Most importantly, I offer students the opportunity to fail and try again. My assessment techniques are evenly distributed across formative individualized assignments and summative standardized assessments.
